Cadiz
is a small village located in Harrison County in east-central Ohio. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,353 residents. The village of Cadiz serves as the county seat of Harrison County. Cadiz' other claim to fame is for being the birthplace of actor, Clark Gable. During the 1960s, several members of the community formed The Clark Gable Foundation, not only to honor the actor, but in hopes that it would spur tourism and interest in the small community. Today, the town hosts the annual Clark Gable Birthday Celebration, held on the Saturday nearest the actor's birth date of February 1st. A small, two-story frame home is an exact replica of Gable's original home, which was torn down many years ago. Visitors may tour the upstairs bedroom where the future star was born, and in another bedroom, a pair of pajamas from his Hollywood days is on display, as well as some of his personal correspondence. Outside, Gable's 1954 Cadillac sits in the driveway. It was this car that he was driving when he suffered his fatal heart attack. A small theater is in the basement of the home, where a short film is shown about the actor's life in Cadiz and his Hollywood career. Also on site is a museum with Gone With the Wind memorabilia and displays and Clark Gable collectibles for sale. The museum is open October through April.

Northern West Virginia has a four-season climate classified as humid continental. July is the average warmest month, with an average high temperature of 85. The average coolest month is January with an average low temperature of 21. Snowfall can occur anytime from late November to mid-April, with the most amounts falling during January and February. However, it is rare for a major snowstorm to hit this area. Rainfall is spread out fairly evenly over the entire year. Thunderstorms are frequent during the late spring and throughout the summer, and occasionally can be quite violent. Tornadoes are very rare in the state of West Virginia. The driest period tends to be during the autumn months of September and October. Spring is the most unpredictable season. It's not unusual in the springtime for a warm, sunny day to be followed immediately by a chilly, rainy day.
