Indian-Lake
is a recreational lake located in Logan County in the west-central portion of Ohio. It was originally a group of small lakes that was used by several Indian tribes in the region for fishing and hunting. In the 1850s, the lakes were joined to form a 6,334-acre reservoir that was used as a feeder lake for the Miami and Erie Canal. After the canals were no longer in use, Indian Lake became a popular recreational lake, especially for boating and fishing. Several fishing tournaments are held at the lake each year, and its' known for its' Saugeye, for which it's been nationally recognized. In the wintertime, ice fishing has become popular at Indian Lake. There are several islands in Indian Lake, including a chain called "Indian Isles" that for a picturesque arc through the center of the lake. Other activities include hiking, picnicking and camping. Several special events are held at Indian Lake, beginning with Jimmy Buffett Weekend the first week of February. An annual boat show is held the first weekend of March and a spectacular 4th of July fireworks display over the lake is witnessed by hundreds. On Labor Day weekend, the Ring of Fire is held in celebration of the fall harvest. Indian Lake was a primary destination of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and many lakeside cottages were built for summer use, many of which have been renovated and still stand today.

Central Ohio has a humid continental climate and deals with a wide variety of weather each year. Tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, ice storms and blizzards are all possible in central Ohio. An average year sees 173 sunny days. Summers are warm and often humid. The comfort index for central Ohio, based on humidity during the summer, is 46 out of 100 (with a higher number being more comfortable.) Winter is cold and usually snowy, although snowfall varies greatly year to year. The average snowfall is 27 inches. The US average is 37. Spring weather is unpredictable and cool while autumn is mild with plenty of sunshine. Tornadoes are a possibility, especially late spring through early fall, although they don't occur as often in this region as in other parts of the U.S.
