Yellow-Springs
is a vibrant, eclectic arts village located in southwest Ohio. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,487. It was recently voted as one of the "Coolest Small Towns" in the USA by Budget Travel. Art is everywhere in this town - murals brighten the sides of buildings, sculptures adorn lawns, musicians play on the sidewalks, art even hangs from the trees. The town has always been known for its liberal attitude, cultural diversity and being a haven for independent thinkers. One senses the difference as soon as you drive into the village. It's a college town - home to Antioch College, a private, liberal arts college that became quite well-known, especially during the 1960s and 1970s. Today, over 65 shops, galleries and restaurants line the streets, and there is always some sort of special event or activity going on in town. Just a few include Weekend Fling/Art Walk, the Annual Antioch Writer's Summer Workshop, Annual Blues & Jazz Festival, Street Fair, Pumpkin Festival and Yelloween (a Halloween celebration.) Yellow Springs is surrounded by Glen Helen Nature Preserve and just minutes to John Bryan State Park and Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve. Recreational activities include hiking, biking, rock climbing, picnicking, fishing, canoeing and more. There's also the Little Miami Scenic Trail, which is a 78-mile hiking/biking trail that extends south from Yellow Springs to Cincinnati. Other attractions in Yellow Springs includes Young's Jersey Dairy, known for their delicious homemade ice cream and annual Wool Gathering Festival.

Southwest Ohio's climate features hot, muggy summers and cold winters. It lies in a climatic transition zone at the northern edge of the humid subtropical climate and the southern edge of the humid continental climate. Summers see significant rainfall, with July being the warmest month. The comfort index for southwest Ohio, based on humidity during the summer, is 46 out of 100 (with a higher number being more comfortable.) Winters are cold and snowy, although this area of the state receives less snow than the northeast snowbelt region. Spring is mild with unpredictable weather. Autumn is the sunniest season with cool nights and pleasant daytime temperatures. Extreme weather is a possibility in the form of severe thunderstorms, floods, ice storms and blizzards.
