Paint-Creek-Lake
is a state park and lake located in south-central Ohio. The 5,652-acre state park offers fishing, boating, swimming, hiking, picnicking and camping. In winter (weather permitting) you can enjoy sledding and cross-country skiing at Paint Creek Lake. The park sits at the edge of the Appalachian Plateau amid rolling hills and streams. One stream, the Rocky Fork Creek, features a scenic 75-foot gorge. Paint Creek Lake is near the village of Bainbridge, and other nearby attractions include Lake White State Park, the Paint Valley Jamboree, and the Adena State Memorial, which includes the 1807 mansion of Thomas Worthington and a 13,000 square foot museum. The campground at Paint Creek Lake State Park offers hot showers, toilets, a laundry facility, horseshoe courts, basketball and volleyball courts. Anglers come to the lake for bluegill, bass, catfish, crappie and saugeye. There is a large swimming beach at Paint Creek Lake and three picnic areas with grills are near the beach and campgrounds. For hikers, Paint Creek Lake State Park has trails that range from .75 miles to two-and-a-half miles long. Horseback riding and mountain bike trails are also located in the park.

Southwest Ohio's climate features hot, muggy summers and cold winters. It lies in a climatic transition zone at the northern edge of the humid subtropical climate and the southern edge of the humid continental climate. Summers see significant rainfall, with July being the warmest month. The comfort index for southwest Ohio, based on humidity during the summer, is 46 out of 100 (with a higher number being more comfortable.) Winters are cold and snowy, although this area of the state receives less snow than the northeast snowbelt region. Spring is mild with unpredictable weather. Autumn is the sunniest season with cool nights and pleasant daytime temperatures. Extreme weather is a possibility in the form of severe thunderstorms, floods, ice storms and blizzards.
