Perrysville
is small village in Ashland County in north-central Ohio. The population as of 2010 was 735 residents. Perrysville was home to the famous 19th century author, Rosella Rice, who was close friends with folk hero and legend, Johnny Appleseed. Rice recorded many of Appleseed's stories and her writings have become the foremost source on the subject of Johnny Appleseed. Perrysville lies in the heart of Mohican County in Ashland County.Mohican is a 1,100-acre state park, surrounded by the 4,525-acre Mohican State Forest. This is one of Ohio's most popular tourist spots. Recreational activities in the park include picnicking, camping, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing and birdwatching. Points of interest in Mohican include the Gorge Overlook, the fire tower overlook, Pleasant Hill Dam and Memorial Shrine. The scenic Clear Fork Gorge cuts through the sandstone bedrock and is more than one thousand feet wide and over three hundred feet deep. It's lined with hemlocks and old-growth white pines, and the National Park Service has designated it as a Registered National Natural Landmark. There are three campgrounds in Mohican State Park and a commissary that sells groceries, ice cream, coffee, gifts and camping supplies.

Northeast Ohio has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid, winters are cold and snowy. Spring is unpredictable and autumn is sunny and mild. You can expect almost any type of weather in Northeast Ohio - severe thunderstorms in summer, tornadoes spring through fall, blizzards and winter ice storms may occur from time to time. It's definitely a good idea to check ahead if you're traveling to Ohio, as weather here is changeable. In general, however, the warmest month is July and the coldest month is January. The maximum rain usually occurs in June. Some years see huge accumulations of snow, while other years the ground may be covered only 2 or 3 times. Autumn is the sunniest and often best time of the year.
