Coshocton
is located in east-central Ohio at the confluence of the Walhonding and Tuscarawas Rivers, where they form the Muskingum River. The population is approximately 12,000. The town of Coshocton is the site of the former Ohio and Erie Canal and the restored canal-theme town, Roscoe Village. Midwest Living Magazine has named Coshocton "One of the top 100 towns to visit." Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton is a living history museum that features artifacts and arts of an early to mid-19th century canal town. It attracts visitors from all over the country. The historic buildings include a one-room schoolhouse, general store and the home and office of the town doctor. The Visitor Center Complex includes a miniature display of the construction of the canal. Artisans are on hand to demonstrate the practice of blacksmithing, broom making, weaving, printing and more. Specialty shops are located in historic buildings that offer homemade fudge and candy, apple butter, jams and jellies, gifts and toys. Coshocton is also home to several special events throughout the year. Dulcimer Days in Roscoe Village is held annually in June and features jam sessions, concerts, workshops for mountain dulcimer, hammered dulcimer, guitar, banjo, mandolin, whistle spoons, fiddle and more. In October each year, the town is host to the Apple Butter Stirrin' Festival. Over 100 artisans attend this event where the smell of fresh apple butter simmering over an open fire is in the air to the sounds of bluegrass and country music. Other things to do in Coshocton include canal boat rides, dinner boat rides, a Hot Air Balloon Festival and a Classic Car Show.

Northeast Ohio's Amish County has a four-season climate, typical of most Midwestern states. Summers are warm and can be humid, although often the severe humidity lasts for only a few days, resulting in a cooling thunderstorm. Some days see 90 F/32C for at least a few days. Winters are cold and snowfall varies greatly year to year. Some years sees temperatures dip into the single digits for a few days. Fall is the sunniest and best season for weather in Ohio. Warm days and cool nights result in some of the most beautiful fall foliage anywhere, but especially in this region of rolling hills and woodlands. A jacket is recommended for fall evenings when the temperature may dip into the low 40s. Spring weather in Northeast Ohio is often unpredictable with cool days and showers.
