Cumberland
is located in Guernsey County in southeastern Ohio. The population is approximately 400 residents. Cumberland is mostly known for being home to The Wilds, a non-profit safari park-conservation center. The Wilds combines conservation efforts with science and education programs for a hands-on experience and one-of-a-kind adventures in a natural, open-range habitat. Activities include zip lining, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, birding, mountain biking and wildlife viewing. The Wilds is home to rare and endangered species of animals from all around the world, set within 9,154 acres, including 2,000 acres of pasture land. Also included in the park is a 27-acre carnivore conservation center, a butterfly habitat and more than 15 miles of mountain biking and hiking trails. The scenery is awesome and includes 150 lakes within the property. If you get hungry while visiting, The Wilds offers a snack depot, a rooftop grill that offers spectacular views of the cheetahs and African wild dogs, and a fine restaurant that serves meals made with ingredients fresh from an organic garden and local farmer's market. Also located within the park is a gift shop that sells everything from apparel to hand-crafted souvenirs made specific for the safari experience. The Wilds is located at 1400 International Road in Cumberland, Ohio.

Southeast Ohio has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. This region is located in the unglaciated Allegheny Plateau, surrounded by hills and river valley. Summers in southeast Ohio are warm and humid. Temperatures are slightly warmer in this region than in northern Ohio, although milder in the eastern highlands. The growing season is also longer here than the rest of the state. More than half of the precipitation occurs from May to October. Winters in southern Ohio are cool to cold. Snowfall varies greatly year to year. Blizzards, ice storms and freezing rain are all a possibility. Spring has a mix of weather, from sunny and mild to cool and rainy. Autumn is the sunniest season of the year with mild days and crisp, cool evenings.
